Armageddon Chilli

Description

The Armageddon chilli is a British-bred superhot pepper developed by Tozer Seeds and first commercialised in the UK in 2019. It was bred to produce extremely high heat while maturing faster and yielding more heavily than many other superhot varieties.

 

Appearance

Pods are typically 4–5 cm long, with a wrinkled, lantern-like shape similar to a Scotch Bonnet or small habanero.

Fruits ripen from green to bright red.

The skin is often heavily puckered and crinkled, giving the pods a rugged, intimidating appearance.

 

HeatCommonly rated around 1.3 million Scoville Heat Units (SHU).

This places it firmly in the superhot category, alongside peppers such as the Carolina Reaper and Ghost Pepper, although generally not quite as hot as the hottest Reapers.

Overall Character

The Armageddon is often described as having an immediate, aggressive burn rather than the slower-building heat of some other superhots. Despite its ferocity, it remains popular for making hot sauces because of its strong fruity flavour and high productivity.
