Description
The Yellow God stopper chilli is a striking Capsicum chinense superhot variety best known for its extreme heat and bright, golden-yellow pods.
The pods are typically large, heavily wrinkled, and irregularly shaped often resembling other modern “gourmet superhot” lines like the Carolina Reaper or Scorpion types. As they mature, they shift from green to a vivid lemon-yellow or golden hue, which is where the “Yellow” in the name comes from.
In terms of heat, it sits firmly in the superhot category, often estimated well over 1,000,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU), with some phenotype potentially pushing higher depending on growing conditions. The heat builds quickly and can be intense and lingering rather than a clean, short burn.
Flavour-wise, it usually has a surprisingly fruity, citrus-like sweetness up front which is common in chinense superhots, before the heat dominates. Growers sometimes describe a subtle floral or tropical note beneath the fire.
Plants tend to be productive but require warm conditions and a long growing season. The pods often develop a bumpy, “gnarly” texture that signals full maturity and peak heat.
It’s very much a chilli for experienced heat-seekers rather than casual culinary use.
