The Lemon Drop Chili (also known as Aji Limón) is a distinctive South American chilli pepper originating from Peru.

 

Appearance

Long, slender, slightly wrinkled pods.

Typically 5–8 cm (2–3 inches) long.

Ripen from green to a bright, glossy lemon-yellow colour.

Thin-walled with numerous seeds.

 

Heat Level

Usually 15,000–30,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU).

Similar in heat to a hot cayenne pepper.

Noticeably spicy but far milder than super-hot varieties such as the Carolina Reaper or 7 Pot strains.

 

Flavour

Bright, citrusy, and fruity.

Strong notes of lemon, lime, and tropical fruit.

Fresh, clean flavour that remains noticeable even when dried.

 

Plant Characteristics

Species: Capsicum baccatum.

Vigorous, productive plants that can reach 1–1.5 m (3–5 ft) tall.

Produces large numbers of pods over a long growing season.

Well suited to containers and greenhouses.
